A candle guide seems weirdly specific, maybe a little too niche. But, I have it on good authority that a number of Six Gardens readers are candle hoarders like me. I thought about compiling a guide of some of my personal favorites in case you’re looking for a new scent, gift idea, or need a reason to add to your collection.

Luxury

The following are the most expensive candles you’ll find on this list. They are special occasion candles, and especially perfect to gift. I love almost everything Jo Malone, but the standout home scents in my book also happen to veer in a masculine-friendly direction. “Lime basil and mandarin,” “oud and bergamot,” and “basil neroli” can be found at many luxury retailers including Nordstrom (linked here). Next is Le Labo—believe when I say everything Le Labo will blow you away. Check out their full home collection here, although know that an 8-ounce candle will set you back $75.

High-End

The candles I have deemed “high-end” aren’t cheap, but aren’t expensive either. In this category, I love the “orange blossom” scented candle by Claremont-based Fiamma Naturals. It smells just how Claremont smells to me on a warm spring day, when all the citrus trees are blooming. Find these lovely candles for $15 here. Next up is a candle company with a presence all over: from boutiques to Bloomingdales, you can easily find Voluspa’s creations in-store and online. I love the sweet and feminine “lemon coco” candle from the Macaron collection (here), the “vervaine olive leaf” scent (here), to name just a few favorites.

Affordable

Last but certainly not least, I have rounded up two of my favorite affordable candles. The “lemon verbena” scent by Mrs. Meyers is perfectly balanced: softly sweet but still oh-so-fresh. Find this ideal bathroom and kitchen candle for only $7 here. Second up is by Opalhouse in the scent “salted citrus bellini.” It smells citrusy, maybe a hint of something vaguely tropical—not getting the salted or bellini notes, which is perfectly fine by me. The gold-rimmed glass jar gives this candle a fancier feel than what you’d expect from the price tag. Find it at Target in-store or online (here) for only $9.
