A Visit to the Farm
The highly anticipated day had finally arrived! It was March 18th, 2018, and VFA members filed into cars to visit Farm Sanctuary. I was so excited to introduce members to the farm that rescues abused farm animals and provides shelter, medical care, and food for the animals.
The tour of the farm in Acton is an eye-opener as we are told the heartbreaking stories of animals, and many people may realize just how intelligent, loving, and unique animals truly are. Not only did Voices for Animals learn about the rescued farm animals, but we also interacted with them including the cow and pig we sponsored. It was so fulfilling and heartwarming to see the animals we had fundraised for by selling handmade dog toys, dog treats, VFA t-shirts, and more. By doing so, we helped Junip Sydney, an adorable pig from the petting zoos, and Saffron, a rambunctious cow from a calf ranch, to get the food and shelter they were in need of at Farm Sanctuary.
Once the tour around the farm was over, we left for Claremont reluctantly. Our visit was informative and touching, and reminded Voices for Animals why we help animals. Leaving the compassionate farm was difficult, but I kept something in the back of my brain: VFA will definitely be back next year.
