Eat, Drink, & Be Merry: Seattle, Washington

b-side

A cozy spot off the main Capitol Hill drag, b-side is the bees-knees. The food is fantastic, a perfect balance of fresh and comforting. The atmosphere is intimate yet casual, and the prices are fair considering the mound of fresh yums on your plate. Swing by for a nourishing breakfast, scene-less brunch or, a perfect re-fueling lunch. Their menu is short but will not leave anything desired. I went with the veggie toast, which I highly recommend, though I am under the impression its hard to go wrong at b-side.

Reuben’s Brews

I may be particularly fond of this establishment because I witnessed the Dodgers triumph at the end of a grueling National League Championship Series. But post-season fandom aside, Reuben’s Brews shares their local craft creations with variety that does not sacrifice quality. Their atmosphere is friendly and casual. TVs are abundant for those looking to catch a game, and long outdoor picnics tables and bottomless pretzels encourage friends and family to talk and laugh the afternoon into the evening. I got a taste of their Marzen, Imperial Black IPA, and Bavarian Crush (a hazy IPA)—of course, I only tried three so I could verify they have something for everyone.

Gasworks Park*

Seattle’s beauty is apparent from pretty much every nook and cranny. This past weekend fall leaves splashed the city with stunning warm hues while a thick fog and a determined October sun duked it out above. Among the countless beautiful places to enjoy, Gas Works Park shows off how special of a place Seattle is. The former Seattle Gas Light Company establishment turned beloved public park has the relics of its original purpose with the backdrop of many of Seattle’s highlights. A unique and ever growing skyline, an active seaplane runway, rows of houseboats, and the tree-filled hills of Queen Anne, Capitol Hill, and East Lake neighborhoods slope into Lake Union create a stunning scene or the main event of your time at this park.

*I honestly did not realize until writing this post that yes, this is where Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles paintball and hit the hay (literally) in 10 Things I Hate About You
