Easter Basket Inspiration
I want to share what I am putting together for my son’s Easter basket in case any of you readers are looking for some inspiration. My aim was to get something for each of the following categories: to wear, to read, to eat, to play with. This template works well for anyone—including adults—you might want to treat!
To wear:
Little man has outgrown every pair of pajamas he owns, so the first thing I bought for his basket was a pair in his current size. I decided on this classic Hanna Andersson long john style in a springy yellow and white stripe. Since he needed a pair anyways, I felt like I wasn’t wasting any money. Another good idea is swimwear—Target has a great selection (see here, here, and here for girls and here, here, and here for boys).
If you’re putting together a basket for an adult, consider a new pair of undies (this company has a great selection for men and women) or fresh pair of socks (for example, this Barefoot Dreams pair or this Bombas pair).
To read:
There are so many great children’s books out there. Given my son’s age, I went with Love is a Truck (here) and a festive bunny finger puppet book (here). Other contenders included this sweet book as well as this Jellycat set.
For adults, check our Between the Lines and Six Series posts for book recommendations!
To eat:
No basket would be complete without some candy. Since our little one will only be 8 months old this Easter, all the sweet treats I picked up are for the Easter bunny ;) I scooped up some classics including Reese’s eggs and Jelly Belly beans. I also included Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies and Yum Earth sour beans. If you want to step up your treat game, Williams-Sonoma has a pretty and delicious selection (here).
To play with:
A mini rainmaker (here) and a some bubbles from Target’s $1 section rounded out the basket. Other great ideas include a stuffed animal, small Lego set, puzzle, or chalk.
If you’re shopping for an adult or young adult (interpreting “play” broadly here), consider a nice travel mug (this Yeti is awesome) or candle (Voluspa’s macaron collection would be perfect, shop here).
And on a serious note:
My husband and I made donations to two children-centric charities—St. Jude’s and Big Brothers/Big Sisters—in the spirit of thinking about kids outside of our family, and especially those battling illness and other challenging circumstances. If you would like to do the same, click here and here.
